CIPM Nigeria Annual HR Best Practice Awards 2016

5th ANNUAL CIPM HR AWARDS

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) is the apex body empowered by law to regulate the practice of Human Resource Management in Nigeria. Through continuous innovation, the Institute strives to positively transform, develop and sustain professional excellence.

In line with this mandate, CIPM instituted the Annual HR Best Practice Awards in 2012:

  1. To inspire the entrenchment of exceptional HR standards and practices in organisations.
  2. To identify and recognise organisations with a consistent track record of exceptional HR standards and practices.

 

In 2016, CIPM will recognise HR Professionals and Practices in the following categories:

  1. HR Best Practice Award (Public, Private and SME sectors)
    1. Objective (WHY the Award?)

Benchmark best practices in standard HR Practice Areas and, identify the best in class practices for professional reference for the year.

  1. Methodology (HOW will winners be identified?)
    1. Review the documented standards of practice in each practice area for 1-availability and, 2-deployment of policies, processes and tools
    2. Review customer satisfaction with the HR practices through the HR service satisfaction survey conducted across selected HR practice areas for the cross section of the HR Customer Groups.
  2. Award Sectors
    1. Public sector
    2. Private sector (including development agencies, quasi-public organizations etc.)
    3. Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs)
  3. Awards
    1. Trophies for Best Practices Winners in each Sector
    2. Recognition plaques for 2 runners up in each Sector
    3. Trophies for the:
      1. Overall Winner,
      2. Overall First Runner Up and
      3. Overall Second Runner Up

These are the Organizations with the highest total scores on the standards of practice and customer satisfaction among ALL participants.

  1. Best Practice Medals (lapels medals) for HR Top Team Members of the winning teams:
    1. Gold for each of the Overall Winner’s HR Team Members,
    2. Silver for each of the Overall First Runner Up’s HR Team Members and
    3. Bronze for each of the Overall Second Runner Up’s HR Team Members

The HR top team members’ names (subject to a limit of 10) will be pre-registered as the participation entries are submitted.

 

  1. 2016 CIPM HR Optimization Award (HROA)
    1. Objective (WHY the Award?)

Identify, recognise and reward HR Initiatives which have impacted business operations and solved key organizational problems, thus reinforcing HR’s value to the business as Strategic Business Partners.

  1. Methodology (HOW will winners be identified?)

Participants will submit EVIDENCES of the following to be considered:

  1. The Business Challenge the HR Initiative addressed
  2. The HR Initiative
  3. The impact of the initiative on the Financial Performance and the People in the organization; over the last 12 months
  4. The Initiative was implemented within the last 24 months. Period outside of this will not be considered for the award
  5. Award Areas
    1. There will be a winner in each practice area
    2. The 2 Runners Up in each practice area will be recognized
  6. Awards
    1. Winner in each practice area will win HROA Trophy
    2. Each of the 2 Runners Up in each practice area will win a plaque subject to a minimum score of 75%.

 

NOTE: All winners undertake to provide knowledge sharing and process improvement support to other HR professionals as may be required by the Institute.

 

THE ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

To ensure fairness, objectivity and credibility in the assessment of prospective Awardees, the following rules will apply:

  1. All sections of the applicable questionnaire MUST be completed properly.
  2. Transparency, Honesty, Integrity and Due Diligence must be applied in completing the questionnaire.
  3. Assessment will be based on a scale and the results will be translated into percentage scores. To be eligible for an Award, an organization will be required to score a minimum of 75%.
  4. Where applicable, shortlisted companies will be visited to validate responses
  5. For the HR Best Practice Awards, an Organizational Survey will be deployed online to members of the organization across three levels: (a) Business Impact (CEOs Assessment) (b) Immediate Customers (Line Managers and Supervisors); and (c) General Customers (Other Employees). Participation in the Organizational Survey will commence and conclude simultaneously for all participating organizations.
  6. Evidence of professional certification to practice HR in Nigeria will be validated and scored.
  7. Organizations must take part in all stages of the selected Awards process to be considered eligible for an Award

 

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSION AND AWARD PRESENTATION

  • Application forms are available for online completion for all Award types at no cost to the individual or organization.
  • All shortlisted companies will be invited to the presentation ceremony where the Awards will be conferred on successful Awardees at the 48th Annual Conference of CIPM scheduled for the 18th – 20th of October 2016 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. 
  • The Annual Conference attracts over Two Thousand HR Practitioners and Business Leaders, making it the largest gathering of HR Practitioners in Africa.
  • Each participating organizations may subscribe for placement in the ‘2016 CIPM Excellence in Human Resource Management Directory’ highlighting the submissions and nominations for all Award types.
